Price Management

Price updates can be time consuming, especially when the computer may contain as many as 50,000, or more parts in the Inventory Master File. With price updates occurring at least once a year, and in some cases more often than that, timely price level updating is important to eliminate selling product at lower price levels resulting in a loss of profit. An independent company, NU-WAY Automotive Systems of Columbus, Ohio, provides periodic price updates through the subscription service for many of the product lines available in the parts distribution industry. Whenever a price update from the manufacturer is issued, NU-WAY will respond by providing a price update on floppy diskette or via modem to be loaded into the computer. With large price updates accomplished in a matter of minutes, lost profits can be eliminated and labor reduced by eliminating the manual entry of these price changes.
AutoPower has added special features to the price update function allowing the prices to go into effect on a specifically defined future date. Once updated to the Inventory Master File, other selling prices can then be created by special price update procedures within the File Maintenance system. Features such as, Percent Price updates, Bracket Pricing or Price Escalation tables can be used to make the effort even easier.
